Hoop Medical manufacture complex balloon geometries, including dumbbell, hourglass, donut, and anatomically conforming shapes. New custom moulds can be produced in under one day, allowing rapid exploration of application-specific profiles such as barbell designs for valve centring or elliptical forms for vertebral cavity restoration.
Durable Material Selection
We process a broad range of high-performance medical-grade thermoplastics including various grades of Nylon, PET, Pebax, TPU, and TPE blends. The engineering team helps identify the optimal material for your application – whether that requires the non-compliance and dimensional stability needed for valvuloplasty or the puncture resistance and fatigue life demanded by bone tamp environments.
Thick and Thin Wall Control
Our proprietary blow-moulding process provides precise control of wall thickness, from ultra-thin films at 10-micron single wall thickness through to thicker, reinforced constructions. This enables optimisation of the strength-to-profile trade-off, whether the priority is catheter-deliverable flexibility for valvuloplasty or robust durability for direct bone contact in kyphoplasty.
Radiopacity
We offer multiple techniques to make balloons visible under X-ray and fluoroscopy. This allows balloons inflated with gas or pure saline to be visualised without contrast-loaded media – particularly valuable for accurate real-time positioning during valvuloplasty procedures.
High-Pressure Balloon Technology and Braid Reinforcement
Our braid-reinforced balloon technology delivers ultra-low compliance, demonstrating burst pressures exceeding 40 atm and just 0.30 mm growth from 2 to 30 atm. Braids are thermally bonded to the balloon surface without adhesives, providing a strong foundation for the high-pressure performance required in both calcified valve dilation and vertebral endplate elevation.
Pleat and Fold
Our in-house pleat-and-fold capability reduces the crossing profile of the finished balloon component – an important consideration for both catheter-delivered valvuloplasty devices and bone needle-access kyphoplasty systems.
DFM and Prototyping Support
Our Design Service provides Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input from concept through production. We help optimise balloon geometry, material selection, and manufacturing parameters for your specific clinical application – whether you are starting from a napkin sketch or refining an existing specification.
